Courtrooms of Supreme Court, Appeal Court relocated
The Supreme Court and two Court of Appeal courtrooms in Accra have been relocated with effect from October 3, to November 30, this year, the Judicial Service has said.
It said the Supreme Court would sit in its former Courtroom, while the Court of Appeal would also sit during that period on the ground floor of the Law Court Complex.
The statement said the decision to temporarily relocate the two courts had been occasioned by ongoing works on the Supreme Court and two Court of Appeal courtrooms, their conference rooms and adjoining offices.
A statement signed by Mr Justice Alex Opoku B. Acheampong the Judicial Secretary, in Accra, said directional signs would be provided for easy access to the Court of Appeal Courtrooms at the Law Court complex.
According to the statement, the renovation works which began on August 1, this year, were scheduled for completion before the commencement of 2016/2017 Legal year.
However, it said, the contractors had indicated to the Management that due to the volume of work, the repairs could only be completed by the end of November.
The statement expressed their regret for the inconvenience that may cause judges, lawyers, court users and the public.
