Mr Isaac Adjei-Mensah, the Deputy Minister for Roads and Highways, has called on farmers to grow more food crops to ensure food security in the nation.
He promised to establish a small-scale oil processing factory in Wassa East District in the Western Region, to process palm nuts into palm oil and appealed to farmers in the area to cultivate more palm trees.
Mr Adjei-Mensah, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, announced this at Essaman, when he launched his political campaign.
The event was heralded by a health walk and free eye screening exercise for residents in the area.
Dr Selasie Brown, the head of the medical team, told the media that about 1,000 residents in the area had their eyes examined.
He said residents who had medical challenges were given free spectacles and medicines.
Madam Vera Oheneba Safoah, the 2015 Winner of TV3’s Ghana’s Most Beautiful Show, urged the youth in the area, especially the females to take their studies seriously in order to attain greater heights.
