FDA warns public about Light Duty Cleaner Concentrate
The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has advised the public to be cautious of the distribution and sale of a Liquid formulation called, Light Duty Cleaner (LDC) Concentrate.
A statement signed by Mr Hudu Mogtari, the Chief Executive Officer of the FDA, and copied to the Ghana News Agency said; “The product is being sold as a medicinal product on the Ghanaian market for the following conditions;all skin infections, foot rot, wound dressing, bad breath, mouth wash, ring worm, odour, shaving rash, mildew, onycholysis and ladies’ white.
The product is believed to have been formulated from the original LDC, a household cleaning solution, which is an GNLD product, according to the FDA.
It said the Northern Regional Office of the FDA, with the assistance of the Northern Regional Police, had effected the arrest of three Nigerian men in the matter and they were assisting the Police in their investigations.
“The Food and Drugs Authority will like to use this opportunity to advice consumers against the patronage of the said product and to beware of persons who come to them with will all manner of products purporting to have curative properties or the ability to manage one form of health condition or another,” it said.
“The FDA is assuring the public of its continuous resolve to protect public health and safety. Consequently, the FDA is appealing to the public to give information on any practice, which has the possibility of injuring public health and safety through any of the following contacts; 0244337235, 0244337251, 0299802932, 0299802933, or on the toll free line 0800151000 (free only on Airtel and Vodafone),” the statement said.
