Air France to start direct flights from Accra to Paris

Air FranceAir France has announced the start of direct flights from Accra to Paris. The announcement, according to a press release from the French Embassy in Accra copied to ghanabusinessnews.com was made at a press conference in Accra Thursday November 3, 2016.

“Starting February 28, 2017, Air France will offer three weekly flights to Accra, Ghana from Paris-Charles de Gaulle. In this way, Air France is expanding on one of the most important markets on the African continent through traffic to and from Europe and North America,” it said.

Currently, the Accra-Paris route is managed through a partnership between Air France and KLM via Amsterdam.

Mr. Dick Nieuwenhuyzen, the country manager of Air France/KLM in Accra told ghanabusinessnews.com in a telephone interview that currently, the partners operate 10 flights every week between Accra and Europe and 12 flights between Amsterdam and Paris.

Present at the press conference were Mr Jean-Raoul Tauzin, General Manager of Air France/KLM, Nigeria and Ghana, Mr Dick Nieuwenhuyzen, Air France/KLM Country Manager, and the Ambassador of France to Ghana, François Pujolas.

The French Prime Minister, Manuel Valls has been on a visit to Ghana in the past week, and he reportedly welcomed the opening of the direct route.
