NDC to introduce Farmers Services Centres –Amissah-Arthur

NDCVice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, has announced that the next National Democratic Congress (NDC) government would set up farmers’ services centres in all the farming districts of the country.

He said the purpose of the centres would be to make available various farming implements and equipment to the farmers in the area.   

Vice President Amissah-Arthur made the announcement when he addressed NDC supporters at Gbintiri in the East Mamprusi District of the Northern Region.

Vice President Amissah-Arthur is on a four-day campaign tour in the Region.
This is his second campaign tour of the Region in the last few weeks.
Vice President Amissah-Arthur is being accompanied on the campaign tour by Mr Abdallah Abubakari, Region Minister and the Deputy Regional Minister Mr A.B.A Fuseini, Nana Oye Lithur, Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Ms Barbara Serwah Asamoah, Deputy Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Mr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, National Vice Chairman of the NDC, Mr Yaw Boateng Gyan, former National Organiser of the NDC among others.

Vice President Amissah-Arthur also explained that under the farmers services centre programme there would be micro credit schemes to farmers to help them start preparation towards the farming seasons.    

He said the NDC government would continue to provide infrastructure development projects in terms of schools, roads and hospital to the people.

He said the NDC as a Social Democratic Party would continue to invest in the people since they were at the centre of its agenda.

Vice President Amissah-Arthur also called on the electorate to disregard some of the wild promises being made by their opponent since they were unrealistic.

He urged the people in the area to live in peace with one another so that they could go about their farming activities without any problem.  

Mr Ofosu Ampofo said the government had completed some projects in the Gbintri, Laadatiga and Jargoo areas which include a GH₵ 508,000 dam for farming, five boreholes, three units classroom block, a CHPS compound and a Police station.   

He said under the next NDC administration the farmers services centres would be resourced to provide micro-finance credits to farmers to help them with their farming activities.   

He said the services centres would also provide ready markets for farmers when they harvest their produce.   

Vice President Amissah-Arthur also addressed rallies at Kulinvaa, Nagboo, Gambaga, Lagbensi as well and interacted with the students of Gambaga College of Education and Nalerigu Nursing and Midwifery School at Nalerigu.       

Vice President Amissah-Arthur also introduced Alhaji Baba Seidu Issifu as the NDC Parliamentary candidates for Gambaga/Nalerigu, constituency to the people.
