Our single digits will improve in Volta – NPP
Mr Freddie Blay, the Acting National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has predicted improvement in the party’s single digits in the Volta Region in the December polls.
“Everything is changing in the Volta Region politically and I know our zero zero and single digits will improve,” he said.
Mr Blay was speaking at a media engagement after a three-day interaction with party executives and parliamentary candidates in the region.
He said though the NPP was not extremely expectant, it was confident of a fairly good showing at the polls in the region.
The Acting National Chairman said he was impressed with the preparedness of the party’s parliamentary candidates and urged them and the executives to maintain the momentum.
“I am very proud of the Volta Region. You can feel the change. The enthusiasm with which people come for meetings and our events is an indication that things are changing…, and all hands must be on deck to protect the ballot,” he said.
The NPP has no parliamentary seat in the region and had 111,149 popular votes, representing 12.93 per cent in the 2012 general election.
The party has targeted five parliamentary seats and 50 per cent popular votes in the December polls.
The relatively high targets followed a “successful” tour of the region by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the Party’s Presidential Candidate, which was described as a “striking historical political democratic revolution within the region”.
