EC starts ‘Special Walk-In’ service for political parties, candidates
The Electoral Commission (EC) announces the creation of what it calls a ‘Special Walk-in Service’ for political parties and candidates contesting the 2016 elections, adding it is the first of its kind.
The EC in a press release copied to ghanabusinessnews.com, said the Service, available on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:00pm to 4:00pm would allow party representatives and independent candidates the opportunity to meet Members and key officers of the Commission (without prior appointment) to get their questions about the elections answered or concerns addressed.
“The Walk-In Service will take place at the same time simultaneously in all Regional and District Offices of the Commission across the country,” it added.
The EC says the Service is a reflection of its determination to increase engagement with the key stakeholders of the electoral process.
“It will complement other initiatives being implemented by the Commission to increase access and transparency of the electoral process. It is our expectation that the parties and independent candidates will make good use of this unique opportunity,” it said.
