Effutu chiefs render apology to Nana Akufo- Addo

The chiefs and opinion leaders of Effutu in Winneba, have apologised to Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) over their outburst in relation to a “Simpa Panyin” comment attributed to him.

Addressing a news conference in Effutu on Thursday, Neenyi Otuba Spiri II, Tufuhene of Effutu said it had come to the attention of Nananom that the alleged tape recording upon, which they made their earlier demands was of dubious quality and same cannot be verified.

On Monday November 22, Neenyi Otuba Spiri II addressed a news conference on behalf of the chiefs and opinion leaders Otu expressed the disquiet of Nananom regarding the use of “Simpa Panyin” by the Flag bearer.

He said upon further scrutiny they (Nananom) have realised that Nana- Addo never uttered anything derogatory about the people of Winneba.

“In the circumstance we hereby render unqualified apology to Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the NPP and our hardworking Member of Parliament, Mr Alexander Afenyo-Markin for any political harm that our earlier public outburst might have caused.

“We take this opportunity to strongly urge individuals and government officials to stop this conduct of feeding Nananom with false information aimed at gaining political advantage.

“We plead once again to Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to find space in his heart to forgive us for the offensive comments, which are hereby retracted in its entirety,” he said

He wished Nana Addo and the NPP the best of luck in the December 7 elections and reiterated the fact that the people of Winneba had confidence in him as a true patriot, peace loving and visionary leader who could bring change to the masses.

In his response, Mr Afenyo-Markin thanked the chiefs for vindicating Nana- Addo.
