Some special voters cannot find names on register

RegisterA number of security personnel and some journalists in the Wa Central Constituency could not find their names on the Special Voters Register when they turned out to cast their votes.

This happened at the Wa Circuit Court Polling Station where the elections are being conducted.

Worse hit are the personnel of the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana National Fire Service who would be deployed on December 7 to keep security at the polling stations.

Some of the personnel expressed dissatisfaction about the situation to Mr Adams Iddrisu Thirdman, Presiding Member of the Special Voting, saying they had submitted their names to the Upper West Regional Office of the Electoral Commission (EC) and could not understand why their names were missing out of the Special Voters list.

Mr Thirdman provided a paper for those who could not found their names on the list to write down their names and other particulars of their Voters Identity Cards for it to be given to the EC’s Regional Director in Wa.

“I am trying to track names and particulars of those who did not have their names on the register and to give it to the EC’s Boss when he comes over,” he said.

Mr Thirdman could not however tell the next line of action.

He told the Ghana News Agency that the first register containing the list of names of special voters had been discarded and replaced with a new one.

According to him, all those who could not find their names in the register, could found them in the constituencies that they voted during the last elections.

In all, 888 Special Voters are expected to cast their votes in the Wa Central Constituency.

A long queue was formed at the Polling Station where voting was ongoing smoothly.
