I shall be President for all – Mahama
President John Dramani Mahama, on Monday, rounded his nationwide 2016 campaign tour with the promise to put in place measures that would ensure incident-free polls, on Wednesday, and be unifying President when given the nod.
He said in the last four years, his administration stabilised the economy and effectively managed the power challenges among other development challenges and would protect those gains in the next four years.
“In my next four years, my administration will focus on improving infrastructure to support the private sector throughout the country and I would be President of all irrespective religious, political and ethnic backgrounds.
President Mahama who was addressing the final Greater Accra National Democratic Congress (NDC) rally at the Accra Sports stadium said, “I have been a unifier in the last four years and will, therefore, not tear this country apart.”
The rally was also attended by Vice President Paa Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur and his wife Matilda, First Lady Lordina Mahama, Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, Ministers of State, Parliamentary Candidates, the party hierarchy and various campaign teams.
Party supporters started trooping to the stadium as early as midnight on Sunday, a situation, which created economic opportunities for petty traders such as; khebab, water, yoghurt and soft drink sellers, at all the corners of the stadium and its surroundings.
President Mahama declared: “In the name of the Almighty God, I claim victory of 2016 for Mahama and the NDC and may no work of the devil interfere with that victory, Insha Allah Ghana will not witness any violence and Ghana shall survive the election.”
He said he had embarked on a number development projects and giving him another mandate would enable him to complete them and initiate many or throughout the country.
The President said the challenges in governance was unavoidable as even developed countries were still facing some major challenges and gave the assurance that his next administration would tackle all challenges head-on for the betterment of all Ghanaians.
President Mahama commended Ghanaians, the leadership and supporters of the NDC, and the Presidential Press Corps for their support over the last four years.
He said having campaigned throughout the country he managed to whip up the enthusiasm of Ghanaians towards nation-building and would ensure that their aspirations and hopes were rekindled in his next four years.
“The destiny of this country is in your hands and do not take it lightly,” he advised the enthusiastic crowd.
Vice President Amissah-Arthur urged Ghanaians to ignore all misleading messages that were being circulated in the social media by political opponents to discredit the performance of the NDC Government.
He, particularly, mentioned the alleged fake thumb printed ballot papers that were found in a hotel in Kumasi as some of the tricks and diversionary tactics that were being carried out by the opposition to throw dust into the eyes of voters.
The Vice President commended Chiefs and NDC supporters for lending their support to all campaign teams in their areas of jurisdiction.
