Savannah Policy Think Tank formed to monitor government policies
Following the inauguration of the New Patriotic Party-led government, a new organisation has been formed to monitor and evaluate various policies and programmes in the three northern regions and parts of Brong-Ahafo Region.
The “Savannah Policy Think Tank”, whose membership comprises diverse professionals would have its head office in Tamale and would work closely with the media to monitor various activities in the stated areas.
Mr Abu Kabiebata Kansangbata, a former Deputy Upper West Regional Minister, announced the formation of the organisation at an interaction with journalists in Wa.
He said the organisation was nonpartisan and it would appraise the efforts of all involved in the development activities in the four regions.
Mr Kansangbata said the provision of dams, especially in the Upper West, Upper East and Northern Regions was important as it would help a lot of the people to break the poverty cycle and improve incomes.
He urged government to adopt the participatory approach to the implementation of the dams and avoid politicisation of the policy to benefit all the people.
“Many laudable government projects have failed to achieve desired results because of over politicisation of such projects and all efforts must be made to avoid it”, Mr Kansangbata said.
