MPs challenge Odekro’s report
Since Odekro released its first report on the performance of the Sixth Parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana, most Members of Parliament (MPs) have raised major concerns about the authenticity of the report having cited major inconsistencies in it.
Frank Annoh- Dompreh, MP for Nsawam Adoagyir in an interview on Okay FM said per his contribution on the floor of parliament and per their calculation he should have been part of the best nine MPs.
The report which sought to assess parliament and hold MPs accountable placed Honorable Annoh-Dompreh on the list of the worst 50 MPs.
“I should be part of the best nine MPs looking at my contribution and their own calculations. I will take time and go through their report and go to them for a review”
“If it becomes necessary that I resort to other alternatives in dealing with them, I will.”
Annoh-Dompreh who was unimpressed with the report said although Odekro has apologized for their error it is not enough.
“The people in the constituency are unhappy about the report and Odekro should go out there and do what is right –They have to retract the statement about my performance in parliament.”
Odekro had earlier rendered an apology to Sarah Adwoa Sarfo, MP for Dome/Kwabenya who had earlier expressed dissatisfaction with their fact sheet which listed her among the worst performing MPs.
Odekro was quoted as saying that “We erred, and we are apologetic for this error. In fact the mistake was contained in our factsheet but our database has her figures which actually records her as the most performing female MP in the last parliament. We have apologised to her and we hope the mistake is corrected.”
Odekro is an organisation that seeks to promote transparency, accountability and democratic governance through citizen action and engagement with the Parliament of Ghana and other government agencies.
