NPP youth prevent swearing-in of government appointees

A special meeting held to swear in new government appointees of the Asante-Akim Central Municipal Assembly ended abruptly following strong protest by a group of supporters of the governing party.

The Presiding Member, Mr. Robert Yaw Kwakye, was forced to call off the meeting to sort things out with the aggrieved party members.

They are furious that the Deputy Constituency Youth Organizer, Mr. Kobby Yankson, was not included in the list of appointees.

They claimed the man’s name was in the original list and could not understand why anybody should remove his name.

Mr. Kwakye told journalists that the group would be engaged to find a common ground.
