Tamale North NPP executives back female as DCE
The Tamale North Constituency Executive Committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are backing Hajia Kulsumi Mohammed, a parliamentary candidate of the Party in last December elections to be nominated as DCE for Sagnerigu.
The executives said its attention had been drawn to certain comments and publications, which sought to vilify Hajia Kulsumi by some purported members of the NPP and described claim as false.
In a statement issued in Tamale on Wednesday and signed by all the executives and copied to the GNA said the claim circulating that Hajia Kulsumi embezzled some money and distributed some motorbikes and bicycles to her family was untrue.
“We want to state categorically clear, the false claims on the immediate past Parliamentary candidate is totally fabricated and must be treated as such,” it said.
“The Tamale North Executives and the entire campaign team has an idea of only three motorbikes and twenty bicycles that were given to the Constituency, which were distributed to Party members”, and that none was given to Hajia Kulsumi’s family members.
The statement said those who were peddling falsehood against Hajia Kulsumi even campaigned against her in the December elections in the Tamale North Constituency and appealed to the National Executives of the NPP to ignore the detractors and consider nominating her as the DCE for Sagnerigu.
The statement described Hajia Kulsumi as affable, God fearing woman who can galvanize support for the development of the area and to make the NPP a more winsome party in the next elections to snatch the parliamentary seat from the opposition NDC.
The statement described as unfortunate and regrettable that at a time many were calling for the inclusion of more women in governance a group can deliberately “smear ill and unsubstantiated allegations against the party and its affable members.
