Low demand for contraceptives on Valentine’s day in Sunyani
The demand for contraceptives was very low in the Sunyani municipality during this year’s Valentine’s Day celebration.
Attendants at some pharmaceutical stores in the municipality told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that although there was slight increase in sales on the night of Tuesday, that did not come anywhere near that of the previous year.
Shelka pharmacy, Anokye Chemical Store, Gifty Mante Chemicals and Richard Oppong Chemical Shop, were among places visited.
Mr. Enoch Mensah, an attendant at the Anokye Chemical Store, said sales in pills and condoms, were far better in year 2016, than this year.
In sharp contrast, there was high demand for chocolate and other gift-giving products including perfumes, cards, rose flowers and ladies wear.
Madam Vivian Adubia, a petty trader, said business was really good.
Prices of the hampers, depending on the quantity of the items contained, ranged between GHȼ35.00 and GHȼ55.00.
