Taxi driver gets 25 years prison term for defilement

A taxi driver who defiled an eight year old girl through her anus in a bathroom at Mamprobi has been sentenced to 25 years imprisonment by an Accra Circuit Court.

Sampson Addo aged 29 was found guilty on the charge of defilement at the end of the trial by the court presided over by Mrs Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku.

Prosecuting Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sophia Eva Ennim told the court that the complainant, the mother of the victim, is self-employed and resides at Mamprobi.

According to DSP Ennim, the convict also lived in the same house with the complainant.

She said On September 18, last year, at about 3:00pm the victim was eating outside together with her sister when Addo called the victim and sent her to buy him sachet water.

Prosecution said when Addo sent the victim,he was standing in front of the bathroom of the house.

 She said as soon as the victim went to collect the money to purchase the sachet water Addo dragged her into the bathroom and had sex with the victim through her anus.

Prosecution said the senior sister of the victim caught Addo in the act but Addo took to his heels.

She said the senior sister of the victim informed their mother about the accused persons conduct of which the victim also confirmed the action when her mother questioned her.  

Prosecution said a report was made to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit of the Ghana Police at Dansoman where the accused was arrested.
