University of Ghana student suspected to have committed suicide

A level 400 student of the University of Ghana, Jennifer Nyarko is reported to have jumped to her death Wednesday dawn.

Some students who spoke to the media said she may have jumped from the balcony of her room, 407 of the Akuaffo Hall Annex A.

Sources say she may have been depressed and prior to her death, she stayed away from lectures.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO), of the University, Stella Amoah was quoted as saying that “it would be very difficult to describe what may have happened given no eyewitnesses came forward.”

“Very sad news for the university community…especially when we have similar incidents in one of our sister universities just recently,” she was further quoted to have said.

She said they are working with the police to get to get closure on the incident.
