Four members of vigilante group surrender to Kumasi police
Four members of the vigilante group, reportedly affiliated to the governing party – the New Patriotic Party (NPP), suspected of manhandling the Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator, have turned themselves in.
Their names were given as Awal Sadat Abubakar, Abubakar Sadiq Abdul Hameed, Jamil Issah and Hamza Mohammed.
This brings to five, the number of people arrested over the attack on Mr. George Adjei that drew public outrage and widespread condemnation.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Yaw Nketia-Yeboah of the Regional Police Public Affairs Department,confirmed this in a press statement.
It said that the suspects, had all been charged with conspiracy to assault, assaulting a public officer and causing unlawful damage.
The group, calling itself the Delta Force had attacked Mr. Adjei in his office at the Regional Coordinating Council on Friday, March 23.
The police moved to arrest and detain their leader, Kwadwo Fosu, alias “Bamba”, the next day and launched a manhunt for the four others.
