Awutu Bontrase citizens in dire need of water

The chiefs and people of Awutu Bontrase has appealed to the Government to provide them with potable water to save them from water-borne diseases.

They also called on Mr George Andah, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area and Deputy Minister of Communications, to fulfill his promise of providing them with potable water during the 2016 electioneering.

Nana Kwame Larbi, the Chief of Awutu Bontrase, made the appeal in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Awutu Bontrase in the Awutu Senya West District of the Central Region.

He said the water crisis had made most teachers to apply for transfers which was affecting the education of the children.

He said for over 25 years the community had depended on water supplied by water tankers which majority of the people could not afford and had to fall on streams and boreholes which posed health problems.

Madam Doris Tetteh, a citizen of the area, told the Ghana News Agency that water cost them more than food and pleaded with the MP, and by extension the Government, to come to their aid.
