Shama NPP unhappy with President’s nominee
Members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) within the Shama district of the Western Region on Tuesdayexpressed disappointment at President’s choice of DCE for the district.
Clad in red and black amidst brass band music, the members demonstrated along the streets of the district to express their grievances and appealed to the President to as a matter of urgency change Mr Joseph Amoah, the DCE nominee.
A petition read by Mr Francis Bassaw Brandful, Polling Station Executive after the road show, described the nominated DCE as a dictator and one who did not have the common interest of the party at heart.
“His Excellency the President is aware of his attitude of division, he even visited the district over this issue and set a committee to solve it…yet Mr Amoah deepened the division.”
The Petitioners also expressed concern that the Mr Amoah alone selected the government appointees for the assembly without any prior consultation with party elders, financiers and constituency executives.
They further alleged that the nominee also sold party property including a pickup vehicle with registration number GS 1339 Z adding, “such a person cannot be entrusted with a position like this”.
They stressed that the appointment of Mr Amoah as DCE could have a great toll on the fortunes of the party in the 2020 elections, should the President turn a deaf ear to their request.
“We believe that his appointment as the DCE nominee should be put on hold or suspended for proper investigation to be conducted “.
Mr Justice Kwofie, former Organiser of the party added that the nominee had never considered the welfare of the party as the central part of his activities in the district.
“The welfare of the party is not his concern and he does not listen to anyone in the party”.
