Enchi police arrest gold robbers
The Enchi Divisional Police Command has arrested four suspected armed robbers for allegedly robbing a gold dealer of gold and cash.
The suspects are Abudu Bashiru, galamsey operator, aged 34, Essuman Emmanuel,25 Gold buyer and Kofi Combart, 35 and Sulley Bawah 32.
ASP Olivia Adiku, the Western Regional Police Public Relations officer told the Ghana News Agency that on Tuesday at about 1100 hours the complainants, Dennis Hillary, 27years and John Hoyeah, 27 years both Gold buyers of Tarkwa, but who reside at Abokyia near Enchi reported to the police that they had hired Bashiru, a galamsey operator to take on his motorbike with registration No. M-5434-16 to go and buy gold.
According to her, Emmanuel, a gold buyer who is also a friend to the complainants however conspired with Bashiru, Combart and Bawah to rob the complainants of their cash of GH¢14,660 and gold valued GH¢1,025.
ASP Adiku said upon the complaints, the Police managed to arrest Emmanuel and Bashiru on Wednesday dawn at Enchi whilst Combart who hails from Garu-Timpane and Bawah, were arrested at separate locations near Kwahu in the Eastern Region.
She said the Police were able to retrieve two Pump Action Guns, 33 pieces of Live AA and BB cartridges, one double barrel locally made Pistol and one SB Baika Shotgun and gold valued GH¢ 1,025 as well as a cash of GH¢14,660.00,.
According to the PRO, all the four suspected armed robbers are in Police custody at Enchi pending further investigations.
