South African preacher who fed his followers snakes says he was wrong, seeks deliverance
The South African preacher who came to international attention sometime in 2015 after photos of him feeding his followers with live snakes went viral on social media, now says he was wrong.
Prophet Penuel Mnguni of End Times Disciples Ministries who was arrested in July 2015 after he fed his followers with live snakes, cockroaches and other rodents, telling them they tasted like chocolate, admits he was misled by a ‘spirit’.
When he was arrested two years ago, some of his followers defended him, saying he didn’t force them to eat the live snakes and that they eat them willingly.
According to the Times Live online publication, Mnguni has approached televangelist Pastor TB Joshua to save him from the ‘spirit’ that pushed him to engage in those actions.
The publication indicated that Mnguni told Joshua that after he was arrested in July last year, he realised that what he practised in his church was not written in the Bible.
“I started watching Emmanuel TV and listening to Pastor TB Joshua, and I came to realise that what I was doing was not scriptural‚” the publication quoted him as saying on Joshua’s TV station, Emmanuel TV.
The North Pretoria Rekord reported Mnguni was arrested last July following complaints to the police by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty against Animals.
