National Service Scheme apologises for police manhandling  

The National Service Scheme (NSS) on Tuesday, apologised to some scores of prospective National Service personnel, who were manhandled by the police, while processing their NSS registration at some registration centres in Accra.    

The manhandling was as a result of a congestion which occurred at the centres.

In a statement issued by Mr Ussif Mustapha, the Acting Executive Director of the Scheme, the Management of NSS expressed regret for the recorded incidences and assured that measures had been put in place to curb the recurrent of such inconveniences.  

Mr Mustapha explained that the police and the military men were detailed to maintain law and other, and had no intention to create such inconvenience.      

“The NSS therefore wishes to apologise to all such national service personnel and the … public,” the statement said.   

The Acting Executive Director said Management had put in place measures to ease the congestions and therefore, urged all service personnel to remain calm and go through the registration process smoothly.
