President appoints Dr. Opoku-Afari First Deputy Governor of Bank of Ghana
The President, Nana Akufo-Addo has appointed Dr. Maxwell Opoku-Afari as the First Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana.
A press release from the central bank copied to ghanabusinessnews.com, says the appointment is effective today, August 7, 2017.
“Prior to this appointment, Dr. Opoku-Afari worked at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in various roles, including Deputy Division Chief and Mission Chief, having joined the Fund in December 2009 from the Bank of Ghana,” the release said.
It added that, he worked at the Bank of Ghana for 13 years and among other roles, was a Special Assistant to the Governor from June 2006 until October 2009.
Dr. Opoku-Afari holds a B.A (Hons) in Economics and Statistics and an MPhil in Economics, both from the University of Ghana, Legon, and a Ph.D in Economics from the University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom, it added.
