Germany-based Ghanaian nurse supports accident victim
Germany-based Ghanaian nurse, Nana Afia Akoma Boateng, has donated assorted food items together with cash of GHȼ4,000.00 in support of a seven-year old school boy, who was involved in a road crash at Offinso.
The boy has had his both legs amputated because of the serious injuries he sustained.
He is on admission at the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) – the nation’s second largest referral facility.
Ms. Akoma Boateng, presenting the items – powdered milk, tuna flakes, confectionery, clothing, soap and large quantity of toilet roll at a ceremony, said she was deeply touched by the boy’s situation.
The gift, she said was her contribution towards his treatment.
She used the occasion to appeal to the government to put more investment into pediatric health to ensure quality care to children with similar cases.
Ms. Akoma Boateng through her Provident Children’s Charity Foundation, has been at the forefront of providing assistance to needy and vulnerable children from across the world.
Professor Emmanuel Addo-Yobo, Head of the Hospital’s Directorate of Child Health, said about GHȼ700.00 was daily spent on the boy’s treatment.
He therefore invited philanthropists to make regular visits to the facility to help them procure the needed drugs to take care of the patients.
He applauded Ms. Akoma Boateng for her humanitarian gesture.
