Asogli State to launch 2017 Yam Festival
The 2017 Yam Festival organised by the Asogli Traditional Council is slated to occur on Saturday September 16 and would be launched on Friday, August 25, at the Palace Court in Ho.
The theme for the festival is: “The role of tradition and culture in governance and development,” and various activities to be undertaken would include clean-up exercises, health walks, hiking adventures on the Galenkui Mountain, sports activities, and street jams.
A major focus of this year’s festival is the organization of business fora and trade exhibitions aimed at wooing investors to the Volta Region.
A Women’s Day would also be commemorated on Thursday, September 14 with health screenings, cooking competitions and a food fair.
Togbe Afede XIV, Agbogbomefia of Asogli and President of the National House of Chiefs, will sit in State at the palace forecourt on Friday, September 15.
After the grand durbar on Saturday, September 16, there would be a State Dinner Dance to launch the Asogli Medical Aid Fund.
