Indian company, KEC says it’s not involved in Tema-Akosombo railway construction

KEC International, India’s second largest manufacturer of electric power transmission towers has dissociated itself from proposed construction work on the Tema-Akosombo railway.

This follows media publication linking the Company to the project in collaboration with a local substation and transmission line construction entity.

Checks indicate that an Indian consortium is about to start work on the project, which forms part of plans to re-develop the railway system in the country.

The about 84-kilometre rail track is estimated around $388 million and expected to boost trade on the corridor, especially the transportation of goods from the Tema Port to Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger.
