Parents asked to cooperate with teachers in training of children
The Obuasi Municipal Director of Education, Mr. Anthony Maxwell Amoako, has called for parents to cooperate with teachers to give good character training to children.
He said the focus should not only be on academic performance but also on helping “children to mature into responsible adults, whose integrity will shine like stars”.
He was speaking at the open day of the Leap school in the gold mining town of Obuasi.
The children captivated the gathering with splendid cultural performances.
Mr. Amoako encouraged the pupils to work hard on their books, telling them that, it was the path to success.
They should be disciplined, show respect to their teachers, the elderly and those in authority.
He used the occasion to remind teachers to uphold professional ethics and to work with passion to raise the standard of education in the municipality.
Madam Benedicta Appiah, the head teacher, called for parents to properly supervise their children at home.
They should additionally ensure that they are provided with all their basic school needs.
