Assin North Municipal Assembly generates more than GH¢500,000 in revenue
The Assin North Municipal Assembly mobilised a total of GH¢531,569.26 as its Internally Generated Funds (IGF) as at 31st October 2017 as against the GH¢354,486.95 collected in 2016.
The amount represented 73.25 percent of the budgeted figure of GH¢725,653.66.
Mr Nicholas Fiifi Baako, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) made this known when he addressed the second session of the seventh assembly at Assin Foso on Friday.
Touching on other finances with respect to the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), he indicated that of the approved budgeted projection of GH¢3,884,804.52 for 2017 the Assembly had GH¢2,925,034.97 as its share.
He said the total net amount received for the first two quarters which was GH¢683,107.97 was spread over as GH¢315, 219.48 for the first quarter and GH¢367,888.49 for the second quarter respectively after statutory deductions.
Mr Baako enumerated plans to step up economic activities in the area with the construction of an Artisan Village at Assin Nyankomasi as part of efforts to create employment and reduce poverty in the Municipality.
The Artisan Village estimated at the cost of GH¢131,886.30 would be funded by the Urban Development Grant (UDG) and expected to gather all Artisans in the area under one umbrella to ensure that they got the desired support.
Besides that, the MCE expressed concern about a number of stalled development projects due to lack of funds and stated that all efforts were being made to complete all projects being financed with the DACF.
Mr Baako also reiterated the Government’s determination to improve on the road network in the area.
He said the Achiano-Armah, Anhwiasu Nkwanta-Abaase No. 2, Sienchem-Kwaku Adu, Nyarduam-Asamang roads would be constructed while pot-hole patching of 1200 kilometres would also be done on the Asempameye-Kushea road.
He added that the Government through the Urban Roads Department had awarded contract for the rehabilitation of the St. Andrews junction to Fosu College of Education by-pass among other on-going grading works which when completed would ease vehicular traffic congestion in the Municipality.
