Brong-Ahafo NPP Executives condemn attack on Youth Organiser

The Brong-Ahafo Regional Executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has condemned the attack on Mr Kwame Baffoe, the Regional Youth Organiser of the Party over the weekend at Atebubu in the Atebubu-Amantin District in the Region.

They appealed to the Regional Police Command to expedite action in carrying out the needed arrests and investigation to bring the perpetrators to book.

A press statement read by Mr Thomas Adu Appiah, the acting Regional Chairman of the Party, on behalf of the Regional Executives at a press conference in Sunyani, confirmed the incident adding that Mr Baffoe, popularly known as ‘Abronye DC’ has been hospitalised at the Duayaw-Nkwanta St. John of God Catholic Hospital in the Tano North District.

The statement condemned the barbaric act adding that being a liberal democratic tradition, the NPP believes in the plurality of ideas and opinions and “this is best achieved through the development and utilisation of the human mind than through the power of sticks, guns and machetes”.

It said their initial checks and information proves that Mr Baffoe was on a peaceful mission of meeting constituency executives to outline his plans for the Party when he was atrociously assaulted.

The statement said in a civilised democracy, those who resort to the power of the fist, guns and machetes in making their points would not be tolerated.

It said there is the need for an immediate and thorough investigation of the matter to ensure that both the attackers and those who motivated the act would be made to face the full rigours of the law.

The statement appealed to the Regional and Atebubu-Amantin District Police Commands “to act immediately on the formal complaint laid before them by Baffoe” and assured members and sympathisers of the NPP that “the issue shall not rest until the perpetrators of this crime are brought to book”.

It said “we cannot protect the many law-abiding citizens of the republic if we fail to sanction the few miscreants in our midst”.

Meanwhile, Chief Superintendent Nana Kwaku Duah, the Brong-Ahafo Regional Crime Officer when contacted told the Ghana News Agency that the Atebubu-Amantin District Police Command was handling the matter, though no arrest has yet been made by the Police.
