Renovation works begin at Accra Sports Stadium
The much awaited renovation works at the Accra Sports Stadium, commenced on Wednesday, February 8.
A visit to the stadium by the GNA Sports on Wednesday saw worked fixing scaffolds in front of the VIP.
The move is to commence work on the first phase of the renovation on the facility.
This is to pave way for the rest of the renovation works according to information gathered by the GNA Sports.
The Accra Sports Stadium has not seen any major renovation since 2008, after hosting the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The facility has since deteriorated, with the scoreboard being out of service, whilst the VIP Stands continue to rust each day.
It has since been described as a death trap and this compelled the Ministry of Youth and Sports to close down the national stadium.
However, it is not known whether some of the premier league clubs, would still use the venue whilst renovation exercise continue.
