Parliament sets up special committee to investigate GFA
Parliament has decided to set up a Special Committee to investigate corruption within the Ghana Football Association (GFA) – captured in documentary by investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
The bipartisan committee would be made up of seven members.
The Speaker, Professor Aaron Michael Oquaye, said it was with its powers to investigate matters that were of national interest.
Those to serve on the Committee from the Minority side are Kofi Amoatey, MP for the Yilo-Krobo, Ras Mubarak, MP for Kumbungu, and Mr. James Agalga, MP for Builsa-North.
The Majority are yet to name their members.
The Minority Chief Whip, Alhaji Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, moved the motion for the probe and this was seconded by the Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu
It came after Samson Ahi, MP for Bodi, had raised the matter, supported by Kobina Tahir Hammond, MP for the Adansi-Asokwa.
Ahi and Hammond were united in their position that the embattled GFA Chairman, Kwesi Nyantakyi, should step aside as the parliament investigated the bribery scandal.
