Ghana Police arrests four suspected armed robbers
Four young men, who robbed passengers on board a commercial Bus at Gomao Dominase of an unspecified amount of money have been arrested by the Police.
The suspects, Michael Quaye, Kofi Arthur Stephen, Alex Odoom and Daniel Otchere, were nabbed upon a tip-off at Gomoa Potsin.
DSP Irene Oppong, Central Region Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Police Service, who confirmed this to the GNA said the incident happened on Tuesday July 3 at about 1630hrs.
She said the Police received a distress call from Gomoa Potsin that a commercial Mercedez Benz Sprinter bus with registration number (GR 6914-13) with passengers on board had been attacked by a group of young men.
They collected from the passengers an unspecified amount of money at a spot along the Gomoa Dominase-Potsin stretch of the Accra-Takoradi highway.
She said the suspected robbers used a white private Toyota corolla vehicle with registration number (GW. 3889-18) and a Royal motor bike with registration number (GW 2485-M17) to carry out their operation.
DSP Oppong said the Police quickly rushed to the scene and intercepted both the private vehicle and the motor bike and arrested all the occupants on board, however, one Kweku Ameteb, alias “black Taller”, who was riding the motor bike escaped.
She said the Police had launched a manhunt for Ameteb, whilst the Toyota Corolla vehicle and the motorbike had been impounded, pending investigations.
