Brong-Ahafo targets 19 factories under 1D1F Programme – Minister

The Brong-Ahafo Region has currently targeted 19 factories under the government’s One-District, One-Factory (1D1F) Programme to create job avenues for the unemployed youth in the Region.

Among the factories are yam chips and charcoal production at Atebubu in the Atebubu-Amantin Municipality, Poultry and related industrial products at Dormaa-Ahenkro in the Dormaa Central Municipality, Ceramics at Tanoso in the Tano North Municipality, Cassava processing at Bechem in the Tano South Municipality and Juice processing at Goaso in the Asunafo North Municipality.

Mr. Evans Opoku Bobie, the Regional Minister, disclosed when he inspected the construction of an office complex of Rhovanni Royal Limited, a ceramic production company at Tanoso on Monday.

The Regional Minister was at the site to inspect the progress of an $18 million project being sponsored by the Exim Bank, Ghana, and to ascertain associated challenges impeding its scheduled completion.

He said the 19 proposed factories were going through the processes to secure funding; adding that the Tanoso Ceramic Factory would employ 1,800 youth and 100 of them would be tertiary education graduates.

Mr. Opoku-Bobie expressed satisfaction about the progress made and hoped that it would be completed on time to relieve the people, especially the jobless from economic hardships.

Mr. Carl Christian Lokko, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Rhovanni Royal Limited, told the press that the factory was being sited on a 27.79 acre-sized land.

He said the basic and main raw material, which is clay soil, was abundantly available in the area, whilst additional materials necessary for the commencement of the production  were  also ready, adding that the factory would be able to produce 125 tonnes of clay products in a day  for delivery.

Mr. Lokko assured that the Company in its production process would observe environmental best practices to avoid degradation of the environment.

Some of the workers at the construction site expressed appreciation to government for “such great initiative” to minimise the unemployment situation in the area and the nation in general.
