Assembly funding GH¢400,000.00 District Office for NHIS
A GH¢400,000.00 office building for the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) is being constructed at Boete in the Obuasi East District.
The assembly is funding the project and it has been awarded to Jusbro Construction Limited, an Obuasi-based construction company.
The one-storey structure would provide adequate office space, to give both officials and the clients they serve, some comfort.
Madam Faustina Amissah, the District Chief Executive (DCE), performing the ceremony to signal the start of work on the project, said the assembly was eager to see that the people “have access to quality health care”.
It was through this that they would be productive, she added.
She said apart from the NHIS building, the assembly was going to build a market complex in the community.
The DCE reminded the people to pay their taxes to enable the assembly get more revenue to implement its development agenda.
“I want the citizens to support the new assembly in its revenue generation effort so it could undertake development projects, to make things better for everybody.”
Dr. P. Boakye-Yiadom, the Member of Parliament (MP), called for all to give strong support to the assembly as it worked hard to bring development to the communities.
He said everybody should have a part to play in efforts at accelerating the pace of development in the district, which was among the last batch to be created.
He announced that the school feeding programme in the district was being expanded from six to 14 basic schools.
Nana Okou Gyeatuo, the chief, appealed to the assembly to wall the basic school to stop people from using it as a thoroughfare.
