Modify Terminal 3 to reflect Ghana and ensure security- Minister
The Minister for Aviation, Kofi Adda, has called on the Ghana Airports Company Limited to make some modifications to the new Terminal 3 of the Kotoka International Airport.
This he said, was to safeguard security at the new Terminal and give it a Ghanaian feel.
Speaking at the opening of a two-day meeting of aviation sector officials on Wednesday, Mr Adda said, the current situation where passengers on arrival walk straight into the waiting crowd outside without an area to identify their ‘meters’ was not ideal.
He said, there were no separate tunnels to distinguish between passengers with goods to declare and those without.
This according to him, clearly fall below global standards of passenger safety and security, and needs to be addressed.
The Minister noted that in order to appreciate the Ghanaian culture, it was important to add some Ghanaian art and culture such as; Adinkra symbols and the National colours to both the airside and landside areas of T3.
“When you fly into Accra and look at it from the airside, you don’t see anything Ghanaian about it,” he lamented.
He urged the GACL to ensure that planned maintenance of the facility was strictly adhered to in order to make it a standard facility.
