Vice President advice communities to undertake developmental projects

Dr, Mohammadu Bawumia

The Vice-President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has advised communities to undertake meaningful development projects to supplement government efforts to enhance the living standard of the people.

He said some of these projects could also offer employment to the youth in the society.

Dr Bawumia was commissioning a GH₵2.2 million social centre at Mpraeso in the Kwahu South District of the Eastern Region.

The main hall of the Centre has a capacity for 2,000 people, two mini conference halls also have capacity of 400 people each and was constructed by Mpraesoman Kuo, a benevolent society of Mpraeso citizens.

The Vice President commended the society for initiating the project, which will also offer employment to some of the youth of the community and urged the Kwahu South District Assembly to support the society to ensure effective running of the centre.

He said the government alone cannot provide all the social amenities in all communities in the country, and will therefore support communities who initiate such projects.

The Kwahumanhene, Daasebre Akuamoah Agyepong II, called on Kwahu citizens in various communities to unite and contribute to the development of the society.

The Chairman of Mpraesoman Kuo, Mr Oppong Sasu said, the construction of the Centre started 12 years ago and was financed by members of the society through individual contributions and fund-raising activities.

He thanked Mrs Esther Obeng Daapaah, a former Minister of State, the Mpraesohene, Nana Ampim Daadua for the land and members of the society for their contribution towards the completion of the project.
