Two students granted a total of GH¢20,000.00 bail over alleged robbery

Two senior high students, who attacked and robbed a trader of her mobile phones, have been granted a GH¢10,000.00 bail each by the Juaben Circuit Court.

Kwame Frimpong, 20, a second year student of Antoa Senior High School and George Owusu-Afriyie 17, a student of the Islamic Senior High School, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

They would be brought back before the Court, presided over by Mr. Yusif Osei Asibey, on May 24, with confirmation letters from their school heads.

Police Inspector Jessey Ashiagmor, prosecuting, told the Court that on April 26, this year, at about 8pm, the accused persons attacked the complainant in front of her house with cutlasses and took away her Iphone valued at about GH¢3,000.00.

The prosecution said on April 29, this year, the complainant went to replace her lost chip, but she was informed that an amount of GH¢36.00, had been transferred from her account while an amount of GH¢67.00, had been borrowed by her mobile money account to a number which was later identified to be that of George Owusu-Afriyie.

Inspector Ashiagmor said the complainant saved the number and the face of George appeared on his ‘whatsup’ profile.

She said the complainant made a report to the police who arrested him upon a tip off.

The prosecution said during a search, the said Iphone was found on him and he mentioned Frimpong as his accomplice.

The police arrested Frimpong from his house and upon further investigations, they were charged with the offence.
