Ghana Library Authority to set up youth engagement centres
The Ghana Library Authority (GhLA) is to establish youth engagement centres across the country to encourage the young people to adopt the habit of reading.
Mr. Aaron Kuwornu, Northern Regional Director of GhLA, said the centres were to help the youth to acknowledge the vital contribution of books to the building and strengthening of their intellectual capabilities.
He told the Ghana News Agency in an interview that he centres would aid them to make good use of their leisure time.
He said they had targeted to enroll about 1,000 young people aged between 14 and 24, in the Northern Region, into the programme.
“The idled youth are prone to social vices that are detrimental to their potentials hence the need to safeguard their future through diverse interventions.”
