Privileges committee to decide fate of referred absentee MPs
The Privileges Committee of Parliament is presently in a meeting to decide the fate of three lawmakers referred to them by Mr Alban Bagbin, the Speaker of Parliament over their absenteeism.
Mr Bagbin on May 4, referred Madam Sarah Adwoa Safo, Member of Parliament (MP), Dome-Kwabenya; Mr Henry Quartey, MP Ayawaso Central and Mr Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, MP Assin Central to the Privileges Committee for absenting themselves from fifteen sittings of the House.
According to the Speaker, the absence of these MPs without his permission constituted a breach of the rules of the House.
The committee last week could not take a formal decision when Madam Sarah Adwoa Safo failed to show up at the Committee hearings.
Meanwhile, Mr Agyapong and Mr Quartey both appeared before the committee and cited ill health as their reasons for absenteeism.
