Takoradi confirms one of three suspected cases of cholera
The Western Regional Directorate of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), has recorded one confirmed and three suspected cases of cholera within Takoradi in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis.
Dr Nana Yaw Ofori Yeboah, the Western Regional Director of the GHS, who confirmed this to the Ghana News Agency, said the confirmed case was a male and that they were awaiting the test results of the three others.
He said there was no need for panic, adding that health officials were working closely with other stakeholders to contain the situation within the Metropolis.
He advised residents to regularly wash their hands with soap and water especially after visiting the toilet, and before, during and after cooking.
Dr Ofori Yeboah also advised the people to bath and wash their clothes regularly, clean and disinfect toilets and surfaces with soap and treated water and seek medical attention when they experienced some common symptoms of cholera like vomiting and severe diarrhoea.
