Special voting on-going smoothly in Tema, environs
The special voting exercise for security personnel, media, and the Electoral Commission’s staff is smoothly underway in various polling centres in Tema and its environs.
The exercise started at the expected 0700hours in most of the centres, with the Tema East starting at 0720hours due to some material challenges.
The centres are Tema East, Community One Police Station; Tema Central, Community Eight Police Station; Tema West, Community Two Police Station; Ashaiman, District Police Station; Ada, Ada Foah Police Station; Ningo-Prampram, Prampram Methodist Primary School; and Kpone-Katamanso, Michel Camp.
A total of 286 are expected to participate in special voting at Sege, while 1,048 and 1,244 are to vote at the Tema West and Ashaiman special voting centres.
Tema East and Tema Central, respectively, have 693 and 457 on the special voters’ register, while Kpone-Katamanso has 421 special voters on the electoral roll.
The Ghana News Agency (GNA) observed that the voting exercise was being conducted in a smooth, incident-free manner with political party representatives, for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), present.
Political party executives and parliamentary candidates for the two parties were also spotted at the centres monitoring the exercise and interacting with the presiding officers.
