A Plus beats Deputy Interior Minister to become new MP-elect for Gomoa Central

Mr Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as “A Plus” who contested the Gomoa Central seat as an Independent Parliamentary Candidate, on Saturday December 7, defeated the sitting Member of Parliament (MP), Naana Eyiah Quansah with a wide margin.

A Plus polled 14,244 votes to unseat Mrs Eyiah Quansah, also the Deputy Interior Minister who obtained 11,637 votes.

Mr Kwame Dean Yawson, the NDC Candidate bagged 10, 112 votes.

Speaking to the media after the declaration by EC, Mr Obeng, the MP–elect, assured the electorates of Gomoa Central that he would complete all projects started by the outgoing MP.

He also gave the assurance that the protracted land dispute between Gomoa Central and Effutus would be resolved to avert future boundary crisis.

At Agona West Constituency, Mrs Ernestina Ofori Dangbey of the NDC, won the seat with a total of 26, 525 votes to become new MP-elect, beating Mr Chris Arthur of the NPP who polled 20,654 votes.

Mrs Cynthia Mamle Morrison, the incumbent MP contested as an Independent Candidate and had 7,160 votes.

Speaking to the media after the declaration, the MP-elect assured the people of Agona West that she still stands by the promises made during the campaign time to ensure transformation of human lives.

Mrs Dangbey said the constituents did not elect her as MP to seek revenge against those who were against her in the campaign period but rather to be mother of all to enhance peace and tranquility.

She expressed gratitude to the teeming supporters for their hard work and resilience that had brought glory and victory to the NDC in the Agona West Constituency,
