Sports Minister cautions Black Stars against complacency

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Clement Kofi Humado has cautioned the Black Stars against been over-confident and complacent in their match against the Flames of Malawi when they two sides meet ahead of their 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday.

Mr Humado noted that there are no longer minnows in football and so it behoves on the Stars to work hard in order to put the smiles on the faces of all Ghanaians.

The Minister said these in a goodwill message in a press release signed on his behalf by Akwasi Sarpong, Head of Public Relations Officer of the Ministry copied to the GNA Sports on Thursday.

“The journey for qualification to South Africa 2013, begins on Saturday, and I am very confident the Black Stars are going to start on a good note by winning convincingly in Ghana and to make the second leg in Malawi a mere formality”.

The Minister charged the Black Stars to win convincingly to honour the memory of late President John Evans Atta Mills, who he noted was an ardent fan of the Black Stars and had always supported them in their quest to be one of the most ‘fearsome’ teams in the world.

Mr Humado also urged the technical and management teams of the Stars to work hard as they have always done to ensure that Team Ghana is physically prepared for the match and to become victorious on Saturday.

He also appealed to the supporters and football fans to throng the Accra Sports stadium to cheer on the Stars to ensure overwhelming victory and urged all to remember the Stars in their prayers ahead of the match.
