Chartered Institute of Bankers holds 3rd congregation and graduation ceremony
The Third Congregation and Graduation Ceremony of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (CIB), Ghana, was on Saturday held in Accra.
The graduates numbering 127 had gone through various courses including Economics in Banking, Principles of Accounting, Principles of Banking Law, Elements of Banking, Management Practice and Monetary and Financial Systems.
The others are Banking Strategic Information Management, Customer Services-Marketing and the Competitive Environment, Banking Operations-Regulations, Marketing Practice and Treasury Management and Law Relating to Banking.
Mr Lee Ocran, Minister of Education in a speech read on his behalf, said the Education Ministry exists to carry out the vision of government in providing quality education to accelerate the nation’s socio-economic development.
He said this was to be done through expanding access to education at all level, providing and improving infrastructural facilities to all educational establishments, raising the quality of teaching and learning for effective outcomes, making education more relevant to national goals and aspirations by focusing on vocational and technical education and making tertiary education more cost effective.
Mr Ocran said government appreciates the effort of the CIB at producing the needed human capital for the running of Ghana’s banking and finance industry and wished the graduates well in their endeavors saying “I hope that one of you can become the Ghana’s Minister of Finance or the Governor of the Central Bank of Ghana one day.”
Mr Anthony Yaw Oppong, Chief Executive Office of the CIB, said the Institute is recognized school by the banking industry which offers a comprehensive portfolio of Financial Service programmes ranging from Executive Certificate in Banking Operations and professional courses.
He said the CIB provides its members with an innovative Continuing Professional Development which helps them keep their knowledge and skills up-to-date throughout their career.
Prizes were awarded to nine graduates who excelled in their various fields studies.
The Chartered Institute of Bankers, Ghana was registered in 1978 under the Professional Bodies Decree of 1973 (NRCD 143).
The Institute serves as a professional body for banks and financial institutions with an aim to provide stimulus for the development of competent and more qualified human resources that will enable the banks to offer efficient and competitive services to meet modern-day sophisticated demands and satisfaction.
