Ghanaians urged to prepare physical condition towards election
Mr Emmanuel Adamitey, Event Director of Fotobank Media Services Limited, an event management agency, has urged Ghanaians to ensure peace in the upcoming election and also condemn intemperate speeches by politicians.
He said Ghanaians should embrace healthy lifestyles, especially regular exercises to keep them physically strong and healthy and urged the National Peace Council and health-oriented organisations to organise sporting activities throughout the country to promote fitness and peaceful co-existence among the citizenry.
Mr Adamitey gave the advice in an interview with the Ghana News Agency on Tuesday, during the launch of a sporting event, dubbed, “Conditioning the Body, Soul and Mind towards Peaceful Election 2012.”
He said the programme starts in Accra on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at the Efua Sutherland Children’s Park.
He said the activities would coincide with the commemoration of this year’s United Nations International Day of Peace and would involve a nine-kilometre walk as well as games like tug-of-war, a five aside soccer competition, azonto dance competition , playing of cards, draught, sack race and “jama” songs competition, among others.
Mr Adamitey said the fun games would involve people of all ages from keep-fit clubs, political groups and civil organisations to celebrate national cohesion prior to the forthcoming presidential and parliamentary elections.
