DHL introduces new product to make importation easier

DHL Express, the world’s leading courier company, has introduced a unique product dubbed “Import Express” to make importation easier for business in the country.

Mr Randy Buddy, Managing Director of DHL Express Anglophone Africa said since the introduction of “Import Express” transportation of documents and parcels from around the world into Ghana had been simplified without any inconveniences.

This was contained in a statement issued by DHL in Accra  and copied to the Ghana News Agency.

Mr Buddy said businesses now demanded sophisticated distribution solutions due to changing global market dynamics, saying “Orders from international suppliers need to be received on time,  and quickly and reliably, as keeping stock on hand is very expensive”.

He explained that DHL Import Express was fast and an easy-to-use service that allowed one to import goods from more than 220 countries around the world, while payment for the freight cost was made in local currency.

Speaking on some of the advantages and features of Import Express, he said the product gave customers total control since it enabled them to control their inbound transport costs by negotiating the price of purchased goods and eliminating any built-in charges.

“Not only does it give you flexibility, since you can send shipments of any size, weight or value but you’re also able to import from over 220 countries worldwide.”, he said.

Mr Buddy added, “The most important benefit though is the simplicity of the service. You use one account number, so it’s not necessary for your supplier to have a DHL account; there is one transparent price since the pricing covers pick-up, export from origin, express international transportation and delivery to your door; and you only need to deal with one invoice, which is done in your local currency”

Import Express is unique to DHL Express worldwide, as the whole process from pick-up to delivery is carried out on the DHL network, he stated.

“The response from customers has been fantastic, especially in Ghana where imports are on a large scale for both big businesses and SMEs. Most especially the benefits of one invoice, one price, one account number gives the importer total control and peace of mind from pick-up of the shipment to delivery”, he said.

DHL commits its expertise in international express, air and ocean freight, road and rail transportation, contract logistics and international mail services to its customers.

The statement further disclosed that the group generated a revenue of 53 billion euros in 2011.
