Trust Hospital to break away from SSNIT control by 2013
The Trust Hospital Company Limited (THCL) has positioned itself to meet health challenges being envisaged as it breaks off completely from the Social Security National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) by 2013 to become purely private entity.
The hospital had also factored in some infrastructural health facilities in selected areas known as the “The Satellite Clinics” at Tema, Sakumono, Adenta, Dome, Dansoman and Pension House to take care of the primary healthcare needs of the people as well as card bearers of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
Dr Darius Kofi Osei, General Manager in-charge of Medical of the Trust Hospital, made this known at a media interaction in Accra to formally outline the hospital’s development plans.
“The mission of the Trust Hospital Company Limited is to be a leading player in health delivery service through the provision of efficient and cost effective quality healthcare services, with the state of the art technology and manned by very friendly and highly motivated staff.,” Dr Osei emphasised.
He said presently the establishment of the Trust Specialist Hospital and the Trust Mother and Child Specialist Hospital were meant to provide secondary healthcare in addition to the services being provided by the Satellite Clinics in the communities.
Dr Osei announced that the hospital had constructed an ultra modern specialist hospital worth GH₵6 million and two state of the art theatres for surgical consultants that would facilitate eye operations and the physiotherapy unit for rehabilitation of stroke patients.
He said is a clear example of the Private Public Partnership (PPP) to reduce time and other challenges that clients face in getting access to healthcare.
The General Manager said all the ultra modern facilities have experienced health professionals attached to it and urged surgical surgeons, who do not have facilities to transfer their patients to the hospital.
Dr Osei said management of the hospital was ready to collaborate with any hospital in the country to promote quality healthcare delivery to the people.
He appealed to the media to help project the good image of the hospital as it strived towards achieving its overall objectives to improve health delivery.
