Ghana Fire Service ends review conference
The Annual conference of Directors and Regional Fire Officers of the Ghana National Fire Service, has ended in Accra.
A statement issued in Accra on Monday by Ellis Robinson Okoe, DOIII, Acting Head of Public Relations, said the three-day conference was used to draw the curtain on the programmes and activities for 2012.
It was also used to appraise the past activities of the service in terms of its strengths, weakness and the way forward.
The statement said Regional Commanders also used the period to brief management on their activities in the Regions as well as their challenges.
It urged the Regional Commanders to ensure adherence to the rules and regulations by personnel in other to grow the service.
It reiterated the need to strengthen the Retired Fire Officers Association to address the welfare needs of retired officers.
“In this direction, a veteran’s dues of GH¢5.00 per month would be deducted from every personnel’s monthly salary with effect from October towards the veteran fund,” it noted.
It said plans were advanced to refurbish an old bungalow to serve as a Retired Fire Officers Secretariat.
