IFC launches photo contest on Africa’s private sector
The World Bank’s International Finance Corporation (IFC) on October 24, 2012 launched a photography competition to highlight entrepreneurship and the growth and positive impact of the private sector in African countries recovering from conflict.
The competition is being organized by the IFC’s Conflict Affected States in Africa Initiative (CASA), which is supporting private sector development in Burundi, the Central African Republic, Cote d’Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and South Sudan.
According to the IFC, entrants aged 16 and older can submit pictures that capture Africa’s private sector in action.
“Submissions might show individual traders, small businesses, or larger companies that are benefitting their communities,” the IFC said.
It adds that “Photos no larger than 3MB should be sent to [email protected] with an explanatory paragraph and the photographer’s full details (name, age, and nationality). Previously published photographs will not be considered.”
IFC sets November 19, 2012 as the deadline for submissions.
The winner is set to receive $500 and a framed version of their winning photograph.
A complete list of rules and regulations can be found at www.ifc.org/casa.
